Author Info:

Rose Garcia is a lawyer turned writer who’s always been fascinated by science fiction and fantasy. From a very young age, she often had her nose buried in books about otherworlds, fantastical creatures, and life and death situations. More recently, she’s been intrigued by a blend of science fiction and reality, and the idea that some supernatural events are, indeed, very real. Fueled by her imagination, she created The Transhuman Chronicles—a series of books about people who have overcome human limitations. The first in this series is Final Life. Between juggling family life with her husband and two kids, Rose is working on the companion to Final Life. So stay tuned!

My Thoughts:

This story starts out with Dominique going to a part held by a neighbor of hers, Infiniti, that she's never met (Dominique just moved in). While there, she almost instantaneously ends up on Veronica's (Infiniti's best friend) 'give-the-stink-eye-to' ( I just made that up) list. It's even worse when Veronica's ex starts to hit on Dominique as she's leaving the party.

The next day, Infiniti and Dominique get to know each other better, and Infiniti takes Dominique to the resident mystic, Jan's house, where they learn about past lives. Infiniti is on her first life while Dominique is on her ninth... and final life.

In the book, Dominique finds out that that in each of her past lives, she has been killed. And this final life of hers is her last chance to get it right. You need to also add to the fact that her new room/ housemate, Farrell has something to do with those past lives. With Trent making moves on her, Dominique now needs to figure out about her past lives' deaths, Farrell and how to deal with this without letting anybody extra in on it.

First things first, I absolutely LOVE books about past lives/ reincarnation, especially when there's a sort of past love in it, and this book really did not disappoint me in that.

So I thought that the beginning was a little bumpy. At first, I really didn't find it that interesting; I couldn't get into it. But, around chapter nine is when I really got sucked into it, and started to imagine it, as if it were a real thing. From there, I found the middle and the first part of the end really good, and up to what I really like in a book.

Farrell, Trent, and Dominique had a love triangle sort of thing going on throughout this book (though it's more of an open ended triangle than an actual triangle). It was obvious that Farrell felt something, deeply about Dominique and that Dominique felt something about him. BUT it was also apparent that Dominique and Trent had a little something something *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* going on throughout the book, added to the fact that they were more couple-like than say, Farrell and Dominique. Although, a lot of times I'm tired of the whole love-triangle bent, I think that Ms. Garcia added her own flair to this cliche, and that made it all the better.

'Kay, so, this book was somewhat topsy-turvy. At some points, I thought the book would go one way, but it ended up going another. Sometimes it was confusing, but a lot of times, it added onto the book, making it any better. I did, though, find some of this repetitive, and though that annoyed me sometimes, I was pretty much fine with it, because a lot of times it made a reinstatement of a point-- or brought the point across-- on something that I had forgotten.

Finally, I gave the book four stars, mainly because of the bumpy beginning.
4 hearts

P.S. I have ONE question for the author (if you're reading this): When is the next book coming out?????

* Disclaimer: I was given this book from the author, for free. I was in no way compensated for a review, whether positive or negative. The Blog Tour company, SupaGirl Tours may have been paid to book the tour, but I was not.
